Thich Nhat Hanh

"To love
is first of all
to accept yourself
as you actually are.

I am a mountain,
Imperturbable,
Still,
Alive,
Rigorous,
Breathing, out,
I feel solid
The waves
of emotion
Can never carry
me away.

Because you are alive,
everything is possible.

We all
need love.
Love brings us joy
and well being.
It is as natural
as the air.

Make each moment an occasion
to live deeply,
happily,
in peace."

Biog

109 and still smiling!

Hello! Writing a biography is never easy, and if I could get out of doing so then I would, but I have to fill at least a little of this space by some means!

I'm happily attached to my life-partner, and I have an adult son who flew the nest several years ago. By now you have a small glimpse of my approximate age, let's just say I'm of middle-age.

In my childhood I was diagnosed as having epilepsy and have spent my life combating all the problems that go with it. Mind you it hasn't been all bad, not by a long shot. I have met many lovely people and made lots of close friends because of E.

I'm a writer of short stories and poetry, some of which has been published both in the UK and USA. Photography is another love of mine, and I have been lucky to have my work exhibited locally in the South of England.

Oh, I haven't told you my name... Just call me Sue, all my friends do.

Occupation

As well as being a housewife I work in a local charity shop. Although it can be back-breaking at times it's also good fun and very rewarding work.

Likes and dislikes

I have a passion for all things natural. From crystals to trees, the soil that encourages my plants to grow to the leather photo frame that holds a picture of my son. When I have quiet moments to myself I delve into books with relish. That could be the latest James Herbert novel or perhaps something lighter by Terry Pratchett. Then again, I'm just as likely to be reading an Alan Bennett biography or something as intriguing, Harry Potter for instance. Doughnuts, ice-cream, and chocolate cake are three of my weaknesses, I could add more but I won't.

As for dislikes... War must be at the top of the list. The destruction of human life and this precious planet fills me with sadness.

Dance Sweet Fairy

Dance Sweet Fairy

Dance sweet fairy, dance for me

'Tween briar and bush, flower and tree,
And gather in armfuls bright
Velvet mist of pure delight
For Oberon, his head to lay,
And dream away a quiet day
While Titania's playful spell
Casts confusion across the dell.
Lovers human, some do say
Are needful of your help to play,
So dance sweet fairy loving ring,
Loves own enjoyment you shall bring.

For when contented mankind rest
The day, with love and peace is blest.

One Small Problem

This is where I like to sit and while away the hours,

With lupines, daisies, night scented stocks and other perfumed flowers.

Up there near the hawthorn hedge is where tall grasses grow,

Caught up in a sudden breeze, swaying gently to and fro.

And on these sunbathed paving stones I often take a doze,

A worldly cat needs her sleep as everybody knows.

Though in my wakeful moments I do spend many hours

Chasing in and out of shrubs, and round about the flowers.

This is my garden Paradise, yes it does belong to me,

I have only one small problem...

How do I pass that tree?!
